FrontRange Solutions, the leading provider of IT Service Management, IT
Asset Management and Customer Service Management solutions, today announced that
it has become the latest company to join the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), established
to promote trust, security and transparency within the sector.
The Cloud Industry
Forum was established in 2009 to provide transparency through certification to
a Code of Practice for credible online Cloud service providers and to assist
end users in determining core information necessary to enable them to adopt
these services. Founder members include a number of leading players in the
Cloud provisioning sector including 7safe, Fasthosts, Nominet, Outsourcery,
Rackspace and Scalable.
FrontRange Solutions is a global market leader in the development and
delivery of software applications tailored for the mid-market. Best known for
its HEAT Service Desk application, FrontRange is also the
developer of IT Service Management and IT Asset Management solutions, enabling
companies to unify their external and internal customer support businesses.
Ian McEwan, VP
EMEA, FrontRange Solutions, stated: “FrontRange is delighted to join the Cloud
Industry Forum as it strives to deliver a Code of Practice to encourage
transparency and best practices in cloud computing. The more major cloud
computing stakeholders participate in the Cloud Industry Forum, the more trust
we will build with customers looking
for secure, stable, and effective cloud computing solutions that they can
monitor and manage with confidence.”
FrontRange recently launched a new IT Service Management SaaS solution,
one of a complete line of SaaS solutions built for the IT organization which FrontRange
will market under the brand SaaSIT.
Built on the FrontRange Multi-Tenant SaaS platform, upcoming
releases planned for later this year include a complete line of new
applications, including IT Asset Management capabilities, advanced voice and
customer service, as well as patch management, software distribution and
operating system deployment capabilities.
Andy Burton, Chairman
of CIF, added: “FrontRange is an important addition to our membership roster
and we are delighted to welcome them on board. Along with other industry
members FrontRange will help drive the debate to ensure that Cloud service providers work in a common
interest to ensure that challenges to cloud adoption are addressed through an
industry-wide Code of Practice. Our goal has always been to address end user
concerns by improving accessibility to meaningful and consistent information
across vendors to help deliver on the promises migrating to the cloud can
make."

About
the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF)
The
Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) was established in direct
response to the evolving supply models for the delivery of software and IT
services that has expanded well beyond the traditional on-premise method to one
that now embraces hosted and/or, pay-as-you-use Cloud solutions.
CIF’s
purpose is twofold: To drive a common and public level of transparency about
the capability, substance and best practices of online Service Providers (SaaS,
PaaS, IaaS, Web hosting providers etc) through a process of self-certification
to a Code of Practice. Second, this Code
of Practice, and the use of the related Certification Mark on participant’s web
sites, provides comfort and promotes trust to businesses and individuals
wishing to leverage the commercial, financial and agile operations capabilities
that the Cloud based and hosted solutions can offer. CIF is ensuring the integrity and governance of
the self-certification process through regular random audits as well as
investigating complaints from parties that challenge any specific participants
self-certification status.
Our ambition is to bring business consumers and suppliers of Cloud and Hosted Services closer together in a trusted, sustainable and rewarding ecosystem.
