GoldMine Tech Tip

Exporting Data from Your GoldMine Database to Excel

By Tracey Powell, Director of Training, SagaSolutions.com

At times you may need to capture your GoldMine data in Microsoft Excel. GoldMine’s Export Wizard simplifies the task by copying data into a formatted file that the receiving application can understand. GoldMine exports from the current database.

Here’s how:

  1. Select Tools from the pull down menu, Import/Export Wizard, Export Contact Records. The “Welcome to the GoldMine Export Wizard” dialog box appears.

  2. From this menu, select Export to a new file and ASCII as the export file type.  Then select next.

  3. From this window, select either All Contact Records or a group/filter list of records from the drop-down menu. Select Next. You can also choose whether you want to export additional contacts as well.

  4. This is the field mapping screen, which allows you to select the fields from GoldMine to export.

  5. Scroll through the list on the left and use the Add Field button to select the fields to export.  Once all the fields are selected, choose Next.

  6. Now enter the name of the export file. The check box at the bottom will use the field names in GoldMine as the first line in the Excel file.

  7. Enter the name and destination path of the export file.

  8. Check the box below if you want a header line in Excel.

  9. Select Next.

  10.  Select yes if you wish to save this profile for a later use. If yes, enter a profile name. Then select Next.

  11. When done, select Finish. The files will be exported to the destination file.

  12. Next, open the file in Excel using commas as the delimiter.
